Opened in 1993, Mill Lane is one of Stockport's newest cemeteries.  Its modern layout and appearance is emphasised by its long sweeping lawns and desk type memorials. These are interspersed with small copses of decorative trees.

The purpose of the works was to upgrade a derelict area of the existing cemetery to increase the capacity of burial plots.  This was achieved over 7 phases which were carried out over a 12 month period.  The reason for this was to minimise disruptions to visitors and ceremonies taking place.

Works included;

  • Site clearance
  • Construction of new paths
  • Installation of concrete pilths for memorial stones
  • Drainage and soakaway construction
  • Soft landscaping
  • Street furniture and associated works

An extension was also created for the ashes internment, this was constructed using resin bound paths and hard landscaping.

Regular communications with the cemetery manager was carried out to ensure that none of our works impinged on the daily running of the grounds.
