It's business as usual for the Highways & Civil Engineering firm, George Cox (based in Bolton, Stockport and Blackpool), who recently secured not only one, but two prestigious business awards.
The company received its first award of the week at the Stockport Business Awards on Thursday 13th October when the Stockport team were presented with the 'Business of the Year Award (£5m+)' and barely 24 hours later the company was awarded the Civil Engineering Contractor Association's (CECA) North West 'Collaborative Partnership Award'.
The aim of the Stockport Business Awards is to celebrate business excellence within the Stockport Borough. This year's event was attended by over four hundred of Stockport's finest from the business community. The Stockport 'Business of the Year' award, sponsored by NatWest, was presented to the company based on its demonstration of all round excellence in business
On the Friday, George Cox, attended its industry specific 20th Anniversary Awards Dinner at the Midland hotel in Manchester city centre which was well attended by regional and national contractors alike. The team at George Cox were presented with the 'Collaborative Partnership Award', what was said to be a unanimous decision by the judges. The award recognises the working relationship between George Cox and Stockport Council.
George Cox have been working alongside Stockport Council for over 15 years and since autumn of 2014 have provided Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) support in relation to buildability and best value solutions, costings and programmes for over 20 separate highway improvement schemes which collectively are known as Stockport's Town Centre Access Plan (TCAP). TCAP is a key part of Stockport's £900m growth and regeneration programme 'Investing in Stockport', providing access to regeneration areas and improving access into and around the town centre.
