Client: Blackpool Council
Duration: 16 weeks
This scheme involved the refurbishment of the promenade outside Blackpool Tower. Working adjacent to 5 other contractors within close vicinity and the local businesses and general public in the town centre called for traffic management and dedicated Traffic Safety Officers (even into the night-time).
The scheme involved 'tegula' paving in the carriageway and footways of which the company provided designs in consultation with the Council as well as part tarmac carriageway and zebra crossings.
The project was delivered on time and within budget (open-book accounting).
There was a site presence 24/7 with operatives working shift patterns. Close liaison and regular programme meetings took place with neighbouring contractors on the promenade which proved successful in delivery of all schemes.
The innovative 'mixed use' area (pedestrians / vehicles share the same area) was completed in phases so that the area was still accessible for local businesses and the general public, although there was a road closure and temporary diversion set up for the majority of the works monitored by the company's in-house Traffic Management Team.
